There's a lot going on at the Somme Nursing Home!

You will find that there is plenty to do at the Somme Nursing home as well as regular visits by various service providers we often have special events.

Ruth’s mum Muriel, 94 is the widow of a merchant seaman.Ruth’s dad, served in the Merchant Navy in the Battle of the Atlantic.

Outings and Activities

There is an ongoing programme of activities which is tailored to suit individual needs organised by our Activities coordinator. Visits, entertainment and assistance are provided by the many organisations for ex-service persons such as the "Not Forgotten" Association, SSAFA and the Disabled Ex-Serviceman's Association.

Mobile Shop

A mobile shop visits once a week on a Wednesday morning. The shop has a range of confectionery, cigarettes, toiletries and other items. Morning and evening newspapers can be delivered each day at the resident's expense.

Catering

A choice of menus is available to all residents. The catering manager visits residents regularly and endeavours to facilitate likes and dislikes in relation to food. Special diets can be catered for.

Hairdressing

A hairdresser visits the Home regularly. Charges are moderate.

Physiotherapist

A physiotherapist visits the Home twice weekly for two hours on each occasion. Currently there is no charge for this service.

Chiropodist

A qualified chiropodist visits the Home on a regular basis and on request. There is an additional charge for this service.
